Itīs a collection of new ship and vessel models for Transport Tycoon (de Luxe) working under TTDPatch. These ships are usable in all three major climates (temperate, arctic, sub-tropical).
The new ship graphics were already part of TTDPatch 1.9 and have been enhanced during the following alpha patchesī season.
The new ships were the first new vehicles for TTDPatch because the existing ship and vessel models in Transport Tycoon were most mediocre of all the existing vehicles with respect to design and operating efficiency. In particular, there was only a single model for all existing dry goods including such different cargo as mail and livestock.
Instead, the new ships have a greater variety, they are better suited to the available cargo and look better than the original ones. In addition, most of them are animated while theyīre being loaded or unloaded.
The NewShips set comes in a DOS and in a Windows version ("newships.grf" resp. "newshipsw.grf"). Just copy the appropriate NewShips grf file into the "newgrf" directory under your TTD main directory and add the entry "newgrf/newships.grf" resp. "newgrf/newshipsw.grf" to your "newgrf.cfg" resp. "newgrfw.cfg" file.
Donīt forget to delete the old entries in "newgrf[w].cfg". E.g. if you had
newgrf/bulkfrg[w].grf
newgrf/carcarr[w].grf
newgrf/contshp[w].grf
newgrf/gcv[w].grf
newgrf/lngtank[w].grf
newgrf/lstockc[w].grf
newgrf/oiltank[w].grf
newgrf/passln[w].grf
newgrf/pcgoodc[w].grf
newgrf/reefer[w].grf
in your former "newgrf.txt" delete them all!. From now on youīll only need one entry: "newgrf/newships.grf" resp. "newgrf/newshipsw.grf". Because the old NewShips grf files cannot be used with TTDPatch 2.0, you should delete them too.
Youīll need TTDPatch version 2.0 (or higher) to run the NewShips set.
The actual version of the NewShips Set is 0.4 (Grf-ID is 6D 62 00 04).
You need to set following variables in your "ttdpatch.cfg" file:
Unfortunately, TTD can handle only 11 ships/vessels. This is a "hard limit" which cannot be modified even by TTDPatch. However, I managed to get slightly more ship models into the NewShips set by using some tricks:

The availability of new vehicles was only possible by the outstanding work of Josef Drexler and Marcin Grzegorczyk on TTDPatch. In particular Iīd like to express my gratitude to Josef for the fruitful collaboration during further developing TTDPatch.
